Bengaluru: In a significant development, Karnataka's Home Minister G Parameshwara has urged the prompt return of former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to Bengaluru. This call comes amidst the issuance of a non-bailable arrest warrant against Yediyurappa in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Parameshwara
stressed the importance of Yediyurappa's cooperation with the ongoing investigation
conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). With reports
confirming Yediyurappa's presence in an undisclosed location in New Delhi,
Parameshwara emphasized the necessity for his swift return to Bengaluru.
The warrant against Yediyurappa was issued by a Bengaluru court on Thursday, adding gravity to the already contentious legal proceedings initiated on March 14 this year.
Parameshwara
assured reporters that upon Yediyurappa's return, necessary legal procedures
will be followed, and information pertinent to the case will be duly acquired.
He reiterated the significance of adhering to due process, particularly
considering Yediyurappa's status as a senior political figure.
Responding
to allegations of "vendetta politics" from the BJP, Parameshwara
maintained the integrity of the ongoing investigation, dismissing any external
pressures or influence.
Meanwhile,
the Karnataka BJP launched a counter-critique, accusing the Congress government
of orchestrating a conspiracy against Yediyurappa following their defeat in the
Lok Sabha elections.
