Rio de Janeiro“Members of the Brazilian Indian community gave us a vibrant reception in Rio de Janeiro,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after landing in Brazil on Saturday. The enthusiastic welcome by the Indian diaspora set a spirited tone for the Prime Minister's four-day visit, during which he will attend the 17th BRICS Summit and undertake a state visit to the capital city, Brasília, at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.


This leg of Modi’s diplomatic outreach is the fourth stop in his ongoing five-nation tour, focused on enhancing strategic and multilateral cooperation across key global platforms.


Upon arrival at Galeão International Airport, PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome by Brazilian authorities. Capturing the essence of the moment, he posted:

Earlier, he had written:

Modi’s visit will see active participation in BRICS sessions focusing on global economic resilience, multilateral reforms, and sustainable development. His bilateral talks with President Lula are expected to reinforce collaboration in renewable energy, digital governance, trade, and climate action.


This Brazil visit, rich in both symbolic and strategic value, highlights India’s continuing engagement with the Global South and emerging economic coalitions.
