Bengaluru: On September 27, 2024, ITC Limited, in collaboration with various partner NGOs, launched the Swacchata Hi Seva Campaign in Doddajala Panchayat, as part of the ITC Mission Sunehra Kal program. The event took place near Doddajala lake and aimed to implement multiple community projects focused on sanitation and water management.

The campaign was attended by prominent figures, including Shri Byregowda, President of Doddajala Panchayat, and Shri Manoj Shukla, GM of ITC Limited, among others. Various officials from local government and NGOs were present to support the initiative, highlighting the collaborative effort to improve local infrastructure and services.

Doddajala Gram Panchayat is recognized as one of the 75 model gram panchayats under the Government of India's Light House Initiative, launched in July 2022. ITC Ltd plays a significant role in supporting Doddajala GP to achieve model status through various initiatives.

During the event, Shri Manoj Shukla emphasized ITC's long-term commitment to sustainable practices, mentioning that the company has focused on water stewardship and community development through solid waste management, skill-building programs, and sustainable agriculture.

Shri Byregowda and Shri Mahesh Kumar spoke about the panchayat's efforts to enhance community services and expressed gratitude for ITC’s support.

The campaign featured the inauguration of a 100-foot deep shallow filter borewell, developed by MYRADA with ITC's assistance, which has the capacity to yield approximately 300 kiloliters of water per day. This initiative aims to improve water accessibility for local residents.

Additional activities included the unveiling of a project board detailing various interventions under the ITC Mission Sunehra Kal program, a cleanliness drive led by NSS students from IIBS college, and a plantation of 150 native plants by MYRADA aimed at biodiversity conservation.

A community rally focused on the importance of cleanliness was organized by Saahas, while JJM (Jal Jeevan Mission) presented a street play to raise awareness about waste management. Participants received training kits and certificates for their involvement in sustainable water management training, and there was a virtual handover of infrastructure improvements for schools and Anganwadis to the Women and Child Welfare Department.

ITC Limited also recognized the efforts of local Pourakarmikas in maintaining cleanliness in the village, and all participants took part in a health camp organized by the Health Department. The event concluded with a Swacchata Pledge, emphasizing the commitment to a cleaner and healthier community.
