APSCE Inaugural Ceremony Witnesses Unveiling of Revolutionary Research for Vision Impairment
Bengaluru: The inaugural ceremony of first-year BE classes at Acharya Pathshala College of Engineering (APSCE) marked a significant moment with the announcement of a groundbreaking invention by Prof. SS Iyengar of Florida International University. Prof. Iyengar revealed the creation of AI-powered glasses designed to restore vision for the blind. This research will be officially unveiled on December 9, 2024.
The event highlighted APS Educational Institution's dedication to empowering blind students, with plans to distribute the glasses to all visually impaired students after their launch. Prof. Iyengar’s contributions underscore the global recognition of Kannadiga talent in pioneering research.
Prof. K.J. Rao of the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, addressed the gathering, urging engineering students to engage actively in research and uphold social responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of diligence and respect in achieving success.
Dr. C.V. Harish, a cognitive science researcher, also participated in the ceremony. Prof. A. Prakash, General Secretary of APS Educational Trust, encouraged students to leverage opportunities for innovation, while CA Dr. Vishnu Bharath Alampalli, President of the institute, advised students to work hard and utilize the institution’s advanced facilities like 3D printing and robotics labs.
The event began with a welcome speech by Prof. S.C. Sharma, Vice-President of APS Educational Trust, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Principal Prof. Sameerana C.P. The presence of specially-abled students from the Narmada unit added a unique dimension to the occasion.
The program reflected APSCE’s commitment to fostering research and innovation, inspiring its students to excel in their chosen fields.
