Efforts to Promote Environmental Awareness Through Sustainable Celebrations

Bengaluru: In a bid to promote environmental consciousness, the Vyasa Yuvajana Sanga of Arya Vysya Mandali distributed eco-friendly plants with mud deepams this Diwali. This initiative, now in its ninth year without interruption, encourages the public to light lamps instead of burning crackers. The program aims to save and protect nature by fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment.

On the occasion, Sri Vishnu Bharath Alampalli, President of APS Institutions, emphasized the importance of protecting nature while addressing the gathering. He uploaded the cause and spread awareness about environmental preservation through the distribution of plants. Alampalli praised the various messages shared with the public, including:

1. Deepam Jyothi Parabrahma, Deepa belagiso Mankuthimma.
2. Belakidere araluvudu thanu, mana, Hasiridere ulivadu namma jeevana.
3. Varashkondu baruvadu Diwali, ondu gida nedu.
4. Deepadindale Belaku, Maragalindale Baduku.

Alampalli also recounted that he filed a public interest litigation (PIL) three years ago, which led to a Karnataka High Court ruling allowing only the sale of green crackers and restricting their use to limited hours between 8 PM and 10 PM. He reinforced the community's tradition of lighting lamps instead of burning crackers, encouraging all to celebrate responsibly.

During the event, past president Sri Murali Krishna, present president Sri Anjan, secretary Sri Satish, former Corporator Deepa Nagesh, Sri Dwarkanath, Sri Shankar, and other community members conveyed their Diwali greetings to the public. The initiative saw a significant turnout, with over 1,000 people receiving plants. Many expressed their gratitude to the Vasavi Yuvajana Sanga for its efforts in promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness about environmental issues during the festive season.
