15 Arrested in Slogan Row; CM Assures Action, Says Investigation Underway

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday took a firm stand on the controversy surrounding alleged pro-Pakistan slogans in Mangaluru, calling such acts “wrong and an act of treason.” He confirmed that a police investigation is underway and 15 individuals have already been arrested in connection with the incident.

“Whoever raises pro-Pakistan slogans is wrong—it amounts to desh droh (treason),” Siddaramaiah told reporters at Vidhana Soudha, responding to growing political and public outrage.

The incident, which allegedly took place during a public gathering in Mangaluru, triggered widespread condemnation, with demands for stringent action. The Chief Minister assured that legal proceedings would follow due process and no leniency would be shown to those indulging in anti-national acts.

“An investigation is on. Let the truth come out. Action will be taken based on evidence,” he said, urging the public not to politicise the issue until facts are verified.

The arrests mark the beginning of a high-profile probe that is likely to see intensified scrutiny from opposition parties and public watchdogs alike.
