Massive Breakthrough by Bengaluru Police in Kalyannagar House Break-in; 117g of Gold Recovered, Investigation Still Unfolding

Bengaluru: In a major breakthrough, Banaswadi Police have arrested two individuals involved in a house burglary and recovered 117 grams of gold ornaments worth ₹10 lakh. The meticulously executed investigation has not only led to the recovery of a major portion of the stolen property but also exposed a larger network of burglars, two of whom are still absconding.

The Crime: A Well-Timed Break-In

According to the FIR filed on 14 April 2025, the victim residing in the 3rd block of Kalyannagar had left for Chennai on 13 March 2025. Meanwhile, the victim's elderly parents left for Andhra Pradesh on 7 April. When the victim returned home on 13 April, they were shocked to find the main door open and the cupboard ransacked.


An estimated 117 grams of gold ornaments, silverware, and luxury watches were reported stolen. A case of house burglary was promptly registered at Banaswadi Police Station.


The Breakthrough: Accused Nabbed in Kalkere

Acting on reliable intelligence and through multi-angle investigation, the police on 28 April 2025, detained two suspects from Kalkere, under Ramamurthynagar Police Station limits.


Upon interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime and even revealed the names of two other accomplices, currently on the run.


The arrested were produced before the Hon’ble Court on 29 April 2025 and were remanded to 11 days of police custody for deeper investigation.


The Recovery: Gold Found in Hideouts

  • On 4 May 2025, police seized 75 grams of gold ornaments from one accused's residence in NRI Layout.

  • On 5 May 2025, an additional 42 grams of gold was retrieved from Raj Kumar Layout, belonging to the second accused.

This adds up to a total recovery of 117 grams of gold, valued at an estimated ₹10,00,000.

The arrested were presented again in court on 9 May 2025, where they were remanded to judicial custody. The hunt for the two absconding accused is currently underway.
