Islamabad/New Delhi: In a major development, Saifullah Khalid, a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist and mastermind of three deadly terror attacks on Indian soil, has been shot dead in Pakistan’s Sindh province, sources confirmed.
The terrorist was killed by unidentified gunmen in Matli town of Badin District, Sindh. According to intelligence reports, the assailants fled the scene immediately after the killing.
"Saifullah Khalid was a key figure in LeT’s India operations. His elimination is a significant blow to the terror network,”

Timeline of Terror: Khalid’s Blood Trail in India
Khalid was the mastermind behind:
-
🔹 2001 Rampur CRPF Camp Attack
-
🔹 2005 Bengaluru IISc Attack
-
🔹 2006 Nagpur RSS Headquarters Attack
These high-profile attacks collectively claimed several lives and escalated Lashkar-e-Taiba’s footprint in India during the early 2000s.
From Nepal to Sindh: The Terror Trail
Khalid had long evaded capture by living in Nepal under a false identity, where he married a local woman, Nagma Banu, and continued coordinating LeT’s logistics, recruitment, and sleeper cell operations.
He later shifted base to Sindh province in Pakistan, where he was reportedly working for LeT and its front organization Jamaat-ud-Dawa, both of which are banned by the United Nations. His recent operations included fundraising, recruitment, and strategic coordination for terror outfits targeting India.
“Khalid’s movements were under international watch. His death raises questions about internal feuds or targeted killings within Pakistan's deep state,”

Investigation Underway
While the identity and motive of the gunmen remain unknown, intelligence agencies are probing whether Khalid was eliminated due to internal rivalries, ISI cleanup, or a foreign-led covert operation.
India has not issued an official statement yet, but top security officials have welcomed the development, calling it a "surgical disruption of LeT’s command structure".
