Accident at 2 AM on Route from Airport to City; Major Mishap Averted Due to Low Traffic Volume
Bengaluru: A horrific road accident occurred on Hebbal flyover around 2 AM last night, when a 10-wheeler truck carrying heavy stone logs overturned, leading to serious damage to three vehicles, including a car. The truck driver, Fayaz Ahmed, tragically lost his life on the spot, while two others sustained severe injuries and are currently being treated at a hospital.
"The accident took place between a stone-laden open-body truck and a car. The truck lost control and toppled, spilling massive stone logs onto the flyover."
confirmed an officer from the Hebbal Traffic Police Station, under whose jurisdiction the incident falls.
Accident Details:
The truck was en route from Kempegowda International Airport to the city when it overturned near the Hebbal flyover. Three vehicles were involved and extensively damaged, but a larger tragedy was narrowly avoided thanks to sparse vehicular movement during the late-night hours.
The fallen stone blocks posed a significant hazard, but prompt action by the Hebbal traffic police helped clear the flyover and restore traffic flow before the early morning rush.
"It was a narrow escape. Had it been peak hours, the consequences could have been catastrophic,"
said a local commuter who witnessed the aftermath early in the morning.
Investigation Underway:
A case has been registered at the Hebbal Traffic Police Station, and a detailed investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the truck’s overturning. Speed, overloading, or driver fatigue are being looked into as potential factors.
Public Advisory:
Commuters travelling during late-night hours are urged to exercise caution, especially around flyovers and highways, where heavy vehicle movement is common. Authorities continue to stress the importance of regulated truckloads and vigilant driving practices.
