Industries and Textiles Minister Steps Down from Basavan Bagevadi Constituency in Surprise Political Move
Bengaluru: In a dramatic political development, Congress MLA and Karnataka Minister Shivanand Siddaramagouda Patil on Friday resigned from his MLA post, representing the Basavan Bagevadi constituency. The resignation follows a public challenge issued by BJP leader and MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal.
Speaking to Federal Karnataka, Patil confirmed that he stepped down in direct response to Yatnal’s challenge. “I have accepted the challenge and resigned as MLA,” he said.
Shivanand Patil was serving as the Minister for Industries, Textiles, Sugarcane Development, and Sugar Directorate in the Karnataka cabinet. His resignation is expected to trigger political ripples within the Congress party and across state politics, especially in the Vijayapura region.
Patil’s move is being interpreted as a bold counterstroke ahead of intensified political rivalry and speculation about upcoming electoral shifts.
