Agartala: A case of sexual harassment was reported aboard the Tripurasundari Express, which was en route from Agartala to Ferozepur, when a 15-year-old girl was allegedly harassed by an elderly man inside the train compartment. The accused, identified as Mohammad Ibrahim, a resident of Amarpur, was arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Dharmanagar.
The incident took place as the train passed through a tunnel near Ambassa station. According to reports, Ibrahim allegedly exposed himself to the girl while seated opposite her. The girl reportedly recorded the act on her mobile phone and then proceeded to beat the accused with her slipper.
A video of the girl’s response has since gone viral on social media, drawing significant public attention.
Other passengers in the compartment reportedly witnessed the altercation and intervened by restraining the accused. He was handed over to the authorities at the next station.
“A case has been registered under the POCSO Act, and the accused has been taken into custody,” said an official from the GRP Dharmanagar Station.
According to officials, DNA and forensic evidence, as well as mobile footage, will form part of the investigation. Ibrahim has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing a minor, and legal proceedings are underway.
Authorities have confirmed that the girl is safe and her statement has been recorded.
