Bike Rammed by Goods Lorry; Driver Taken into Custody for Negligent Driving, Say Police
Bengaluru: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 19-year-old youth, identified as Vinay B, on Mysuru Road in Bengaluru on Wednesday evening, after a goods lorry collided with his bike, resulting in his instant death.
Vinay was reportedly travelling from Kengeri to Bidadi on his motorcycle when the incident occurred. The lorry, driven by Mahesh, hit the bike from behind, causing a catastrophic accident.
According to Kengeri Traffic Police, the impact of the collision caused Vinay to fall to the right side of the bike and under the lorry. The rear left wheel of the lorry dragged him for over 20 metres, leading to severe injuries to his head, face, and hands, resulting in his death on the spot.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the lorry driver’s negligence was the cause of the accident. He has been taken into custody and is currently being interrogated,”

The police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation. Eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage from the area are being collected to understand the sequence of events.
The body of the deceased was shifted to the mortuary for postmortem. The incident has once again brought attention to rash and negligent driving by heavy vehicles on city roads, especially on the Mysuru–Bengaluru highway, which has witnessed several such fatal accidents in the recent past.
Authorities have urged commuters and heavy vehicle drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic regulations to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
