Lack of Ventilation in Bathroom Blamed for Young Woman’s Death

Nelamangala: In a tragic incident, a 27-year-old woman died due to carbon monoxide poisoning from a gas geyser in her bathroom in Nelamangala New Town, near Bengaluru. The incident occurred on Friday evening, reportedly due to poor ventilation in the bathroom.

The deceased has been identified as Meghna, a native of Annigeri village in Kadur taluk, Chikkamagaluru district. According to police sources, Meghna collapsed in the bathroom after inhaling poisonous gas that leaked from the gas geyser while she was bathing.

Her boyfriend Satish, who had come to visit her, discovered the incident after she failed to respond for an extended time. Upon entering the bathroom, he found her unconscious and immediately rushed her to a private hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Police Investigation Underway

The Nelamangala Town Police reached the spot upon being informed and conducted preliminary inquiries. The body has been sent to Nelamangala General Hospital for post-mortem examination, and a case has been registered for further investigation.

Authorities suspect carbon monoxide build-up due to the absence of proper ventilation in the bathroom, which is a common hazard with certain gas geysers in enclosed spaces.

Safety Advisory

Officials have urged the public to ensure adequate ventilation in bathrooms using gas-based heating systems and to consider installing carbon monoxide detectors as a precautionary measure.
