‘Sammilana-2025’: University Arts College Celebrates Achievements and Morality at Grand Annual Function

Registrar M. Kotresh Highlights Morality and Unity as Cornerstones of Education; Alumni and Scholars Inspire Students with Words of Wisdom


Tumakuru: With vibrance, pride, and academic enthusiasm, the University College of Arts under Tumkur University hosted its annual function "Sammilana-2025" on Wednesday to mark the end of the semester. The celebration served as a platform to recognize student excellence and reflect on the institution’s academic, cultural, and moral achievements.


The event commenced with an inaugural address by Tumkur University Registrar, M. Kotresh, who emphasized the pivotal role of teachers in shaping moral values and instilling purpose among students.

"University Arts and Science Colleges are the power centres of Tumkur University. Teachers must build morality among students. Knowledge is eternal and supreme — it is worshipped everywhere,"

He stressed the importance of recognising student potential, encouraging talent and knowledge, and nurturing an inspirational spirit among youth. He further noted that the university is achieving success in academics, sports, and culture, attributing this growth to collective responsibility and institutional integrity.

"During times of emergency, we must stand united — it shows our strength. Every individual must work with the belief that the university is theirs,"
Registrar Kotresh added

Chief guest Narasimhamurthy A, Principal Civil Judge at J.M.F.C. Court, Sira, and a distinguished alumnus of the college, called upon students to remain grounded, respectful, and determined in their pursuit of success.

Adding to the intellectual atmosphere, eminent scholar and economist J.N. Jagannath from Bengaluru offered insights on the current employment landscape and stressed the need for holistic development.

“Unemployment is rising and competition is intense. Your aim must be your own, backed by confidence and 100% dedication. Academic knowledge is important, but one must also excel in extracurriculars like singing, dance, and sports,”

The function was presided over by Principal Dakshayani G., who honoured meritorious and talented students. Rank holders were felicitated for their outstanding performance across various domains. The celebration showcased the college’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals.

  • A.N. Prabhakar, Secretary, Tumkur District Athletic Association

  • Prof. B. Kariyanna, Former Principal and Kannada Professor

  • Faculty members and invitees from across the university community

T.N. Hariprasad, Head of the History Department, formally welcomed the guests. The vote of thanks was proposed by Sibanthi Padmanabha K. V., Head of the Journalism Department.
