Bengaluru : An incident occurred as unidentified individuals threatened to detonate explosives at the 101-year-old Sri Ram Mandir in Nippani town, Belagavi district. The authorities were prompted to increase vigilance, particularly considering a recent explosion at a café in the city.
Police reports indicate that the temple management received two threatening letters, dated February 7 and 28, respectively, warning of an explosion targeting the ancient temple by March 20-21. The first letter was discovered within the sanctum sanctorum, while the second was found inside the Hanuman temple situated within the premises of Sri Ram Mandir. Written in Hindi, both letters bore the headline 'Allahu Akbar'.
In response to the incident, the temple premises saw the installation of 14 CCTV cameras, and a platoon of the District Armed Reserve (DAR) was deployed in the vicinity.
Minister of Transport of Karnataka, Ramalinga Reddy, expressed concern over the matter on Saturday, pledging to direct relevant authorities to bolster security measures across all temples in the state. Assuring action, Minister Reddy stated that the police would take necessary steps to address the bomb threat targeting Sri Ram Mandir.
