Transport Minister Reddy Commends Women's Contributions, KSRTC Recognizes Outstanding Employees and Community Leader
Bengaluru: In a celebration marking International Women's Day 2024, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) convened at its central offices under the guidance of Ramalinga Reddy, Minister of Transport of Karnataka. Reddy emphasized the vital role of women in various sectors, highlighting their efficient contributions within the Corporation, especially in vehicle refurbishment. He lauded the Corporation's commitment to providing comprehensive support to its female workforce, including priority route allocation for women conductors, fostering gender equality, and empowerment.

The Minister commended the commendable social initiatives of Gowri Naik, expressing admiration for her dedication and pledging financial assistance for her ongoing efforts, notably the construction of a protective wall at an Anganwadi center. V. Anbukumar, IAS, Managing Director of KSRTC, echoed Reddy's sentiments, emphasizing the importance of education and empowerment for all, particularly children.
KSRTC fosters diversity with 3068 female employees across roles, offering equal opportunities. Measures like the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act-2013 ensure a safe environment, with internal grievance committees and gender-sensitive awareness programs.
Pregnant employees receive light duties during trimesters, with 180 days maternity leave per government norms. Parental leave and childcare allowances support work-life balance, with dedicated amenities like rest houses provided.
The event honored Gowri Nayak, a Sirsi-based social activist, for her well-digging initiative. KSRTC praised her dedication, vowing continued support for her future projects.
The celebration ended by honoring 41 exemplary female employees from different Corporation divisions for their dedication. KSRTC Director Nandinidevi K. IAS and staff were present.
