Bengaluru - Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed concerns on Wednesday, asserting that the government faces no external pressure to alter the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) handling the Renukaswamy murder case.
Speaking to reporters, Siddaramaiah emphasized the government's stance, stating, "There is no pressure to replace SPP Prasannakumar appointed by us. Neither ministers nor MLAs have exerted any influence, and we will not succumb to any such pressures." He reaffirmed his directive to the police to proceed with legal action independently.
Home Minister Parameshwar echoed Siddaramaiah's sentiments, emphasizing the necessity for any decision regarding SPP appointments to adhere strictly to legal advice and procedural norms. "There must be valid reasons for any change in SPP," Parameshwar clarified, underscoring the government's commitment to lawful procedures.
Regarding the ongoing investigation involving the accused Darshan, Siddaramaiah stated, "I am not aware of Darshan's confession. We will not compromise the case under any circumstances. The police are conducting their inquiry impartially and without external influence."
Addressing the BJP's protests against rising oil prices, Siddaramaiah acknowledged their right to protest but warned against disrupting public order. "Protesting is permissible, but causing public inconvenience will not be tolerated. Police will take action if necessary," he affirmed.
Regarding the Valmiki corporation scam and allegations of government interference, Siddaramaiah challenged the BJP to substantiate their claims. "CBI is investigating the matter following a bank's complaint," he noted, indicating ongoing scrutiny into the issue.
Regarding potential changes to SPP Prasannakumar in the Renukaswamy case, the state government has yet to finalize its decision amidst considerations of maintaining transparency and procedural integrity.
