Decision Followed Meeting of INDIA Bloc Leaders in New Delhi

New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has been named the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday Evening. This announcement was made by Congress general secretary KC Venugopal following a meeting of floor leaders of opposition parties. 

Sonia Gandhi, CPP chairperson, wrote a letter to pro-tem Speaker Bhartruhari Mahtab, informing him of Rahul Gandhi's appointment. The decision was finalized at a meeting of INDIA bloc floor leaders held at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence in New Delhi. 

Key opposition leaders, including NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule, TMC MP Derek O'Brien, and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party leader Hanuman Beniwal, attended the meeting.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey commented on the appointment, stating, "Congress is the largest member of the INDIA bloc. They won 99 seats in Lok Sabha polls 2024, and Rahul Gandhi played a key role in it. We are glad that he has been appointed as Leader of Opposition.
