BMTC Launches Dengue Prevention Measures Across Bengaluru
Bengaluru: In response
to the rising dengue cases in Bengaluru, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport
Corporation (BMTC) has initiated comprehensive measures to mitigate the spread
of the disease across its facilities.
Under the guidance of Managing Director Ramachandran R., IAS, BMTC has directed all divisional controllers, depot managers, and station officers to implement immediate preventive actions on Monday. This includes ensuring no water stagnation occurs at 49 units, 10 Traffic and Transit Management Centres (TTMCs), and major bus stations such as Kempegowda Bus Station, K.R. Market, and Shivajinagar Bus Station. Additionally, four workshops spread across City are also under strict monitoring.
Collaborating closely with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), BMTC has begun larvicide spraying at its depots and bus stand premises. Specific preventive measures within BMTC workplaces include:
- Ensuring
used tires do not accumulate water.
- Covering
water storage containers such as cement tanks, drums, and barrels.
- Preventing
water stagnation in solid waste storage areas and ensuring proper disposal
practices.
- Monitoring
and preventing water accumulation in flower pots and on building terraces.
