Court directs Haryana government to dismantle barriers within a week, citing legal challenge

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has instructed the Haryana government to dismantle barricades set up at the Shambhu border near Ambala within a week. These barricades were erected along the Ambala-New Delhi national highway in February, following announcements by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha to proceed towards Delhi in support of various demands, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) on crops.

The court's decision came in response to a petition challenging the sealing of the border between Punjab and Haryana. Haryana's Additional Advocate General, Deepak Sabharwal, informed reporters that the court has mandated the removal of barricades within seven days. However, the court also emphasized that the state could take preventive action as per the law in case of any potential law and order issues.
