Commission directs Cyber Crime Police to act over photo of child dressed with prisoner theme, referencing actor Darshan Thoogudeepa.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) has directed the Cyber Crime Police in Bengaluru to take action against the parents of a child who was dressed up like a jail inmate, complete with a prisoner number 6106, reminiscent of Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, currently in Central jail at Parappana Agrahara in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.

The controversy arose when a photo of the child, adorned with a hand-written slip 'Jai D. Boss', believed to reference Darshan, surfaced on social media and began trending. K Naganna Gowda, Chairperson of KSCPCR, expressed concern in a letter to the Cyber Crime Division of the Criminal Investigation Department, emphasizing that children should not be labeled or associated with criminal imagery.

“We do not label children as accused or criminals even if they unintentionally do something wrong. We refer to them as ‘children involved in a legal fight’. Such stigmatization should not be imposed on children,” Gowda stated in the letter.

He further emphasized the importance of providing a nurturing environment for children without projecting undue influence or admiration for individuals onto them.
