Relief Efforts Mobilized for Wayanad Landslide Victims

D.K. Shivakumar Flags Off Relief Trucks; Leaders Accompany Aid to Disaster Zones

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar flagged off nine trucks carrying relief materials organized by the BTM and Jayanagar Assembly constituencies on Tuesday , in response to the landslides in Wayanad. The event was attended by Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy.

Former Jayanagar MLA Sowmya Reddy and former BBMP Mayor Manjunath Reddy, along with former BBMP corporators  Nagaraju and  Manjunath, traveled with the relief convoy to Wayanad.

The landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, have resulted in significant loss of life and property. In response, relief materials worth Rs. 1.32 crore were dispatched in nine trucks, including essentials such as sarees, T-shirts, toiletries, biscuits, rice, lentils, tarpaulins, and utensils.

Reflecting on past efforts, the BTM and Jayanagar constituencies had previously sent 16 trucks of relief materials worth Rs. 1 crore for the 2019 Kodagu Kerala flood disaster and 20 trucks worth Rs. 1.25 crore during the 2020 North Karnataka floods. During the COVID-19 pandemic, free meals and kits were provided to thousands daily.

Present at the flag-off event were MLC U.B. Venkatesh, KPCC Treasurer Krishnamraju,  B. Mallikarjuna, Chandrappa,  Anand, Smt. Manjula Sampath,  B. Mohan, Govardhan Reddy, Muniraju,  Venkataswamy, and other leaders and activists.
