Jabalpur: Nine people lost their lives, and five others were injured in two separate road accidents in Jabalpur and Maihar districts on Tuesday morning. The victims were returning from the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, officials confirmed.
In Jabalpur, seven people were killed when a truck collided with a minibus near Sihora town at around 8:30 am. The minibus was en route to Andhra Pradesh from Prayagraj when the accident occurred. District Magistrate Deepak Kumar Saxena stated that the truck was on the wrong side of the highway, leading to the fatal crash. Eyewitnesses reported that the impact killed seven people instantly, with several others trapped inside the vehicle.
In Maihar, two people died, and five were injured when an unidentified vehicle struck an SUV near Kanchanpur village on National Highway No. 30 around 4 am. According to K.N. Banjare, in charge of Nadan Dehat police station, the SUV was heading to Indore from Prayagraj. The injured were first treated at Amarpatan and later transferred to Satna district hospital. The deceased were identified as Manju Sharma aged 32 and Manoj Vishwakarma aged 42.
