Four Accused Arrested; Revenge Angle Suspected
Vijayapura: The Vijayapura police have solved the brutal murder of notorious rowdy-sheeter Bhagappa Harijan from Bhimatheer within 24 hours. The Gandhi Chowk police arrested four accused, including Prakash alias Pintya Agarkhed, in connection with the case.
District Superintendent of Police Lakshman Nimbargi confirmed the arrests, identifying the accused as Prakash alias Pintya Agarkhed (25), Rahul Talakeri (20), Gadigeppa alias Manikantha Danakoppa (27), and Sudeep Kamble (23). Investigations reveal that all the accused were associates.
Brutal Execution
On February 11, around 9:45 pm, Harijan was ambushed in Madina Nagar, Vijayapura. A group of attackers arrived in an auto and assaulted him with deadly weapons, severing his left forearm before shooting him in the face in front of his relatives. The assailants fled immediately after executing the attack.
Possible Revenge for Lawyer Ravi’s Murder?
Investigators suspect the murder was in retaliation for the killing of lawyer Ravi Agarkhed on August 12, 2024. Ravi was run over by an Innova car on Basava Nagar Road, dragged for nearly 2-3 km, allegedly by Tulsiram Harijan and his associates. Bagappa Harijan was believed to have supported Tulsiram in the case.
Following Bagappa's murder, Prakash alias Pintya, the younger brother of Ravi, posted a social media status claiming his brother's soul had found peace, strengthening the revenge theory.
Bhagappa’s daughter, Gangubai, filed a complaint at Gandhi Chowk police station, naming Prakash alias Pintya and his associates as the perpetrators. Police continue to probe multiple angles in the case.
