Mallikarjun Kharge Calls It a "Direct Admission of Failure" by BJP
New Delhi: The Congress on Friday criticized the imposition of President’s rule in Manipur, calling it a direct admission of failure by the BJP governments at both the Centre and the state. Party President Mallikarjun Kharge demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologize to the people of Manipur for the political crisis.
Taking to X, Kharge stated, “Narendra Modi ji, your party has ruled at the Centre for 11 years and in Manipur for eight years. Law and order in the state is your responsibility. Suspending your own government and imposing President’s rule is a clear failure of governance.”
Kharge further alleged that the Centre did not impose President’s rule voluntarily but was forced into action due to a constitutional crisis, with no NDA MLA willing to take charge. “Your ‘double engine’ government has failed the innocent people of Manipur. It’s time for you to visit the state, listen to their pain, and apologize. Do you have the courage to admit your mistake?” he questioned.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi echoed Kharge’s sentiments, stating that the move was a "belated admission of the BJP’s complete failure to govern Manipur."
The Congress has vowed to continue its fight against the BJP’s handling of the crisis, asserting that the people of Manipur will not forgive Modi and his party.
