A seven-month-old marriage ends in shocking betrayal as a woman demands a clean-shaven partner, but runs away with his brother instead

Meerut: In a bizarre and troubling turn of events from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a marital dispute over something as seemingly trivial as facial hair has resulted in a woman eloping with her husband’s younger brother, leaving the family stunned and locals in disbelief.

The incident unfolded in Ujwal Garden Colony, where Shakir, a Muslim cleric, had married Arshi just seven months ago. Trouble began soon after the wedding, when Arshi allegedly told her husband that she had married him under family pressure and insisted he shave his beard if he wanted to continue living together.

Despite repeated pleas and mounting tension, Shakir, who is religious and committed to his clerical identity, refused to part with his beard. The disagreement soon spiralled into regular arguments, prompting Shakir to lodge complaints with Arshi’s family, alleging mental harassment over his appearance.

The situation took a dramatic twist when Arshi vanished from the house—not alone, but with Shakir’s clean-shaven younger brother, to whom she was reportedly attracted.

Shakir, devastated by the double betrayal, has filed a formal police complaint reporting the disappearance of both his wife and brother. While authorities have initiated a search, Arshi’s family has reportedly refused to intervene, claiming they are not responsible for her actions.

This incident adds to the growing trend of marriage breakdowns over petty domestic disputes, but the element of family betrayal and the superficial trigger—a beard—has left netizens and locals alike deeply disturbed.
