Forensic Report Denies Sexual Assault in Bhadrapur Death Case; Police Warn of Action Against Fake News Spreaders as Postmortem Report Awaited

Bengaluru: The mysterious and heartbreaking death of a Class 9 girl from Hakki-Pikki Colony, whose body was found near the Bangalore-Mysore railway track in Bhadrapur village, Bidadi Hobli, has taken a dramatic twist. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report has officially ruled out rape, contrary to the viral claims and social media outrage that followed the discovery of the body.

Addressing a press conference at Bidadi Police Station, Ramanagara SP Srinivas Gowda revealed key updates in the case that has captured statewide attention.

“The FSL report clearly mentions there are no signs of sexual assault. We had sent 32 different biological and forensic samples for testing. The injury marks on the girl’s body suggest trauma, but not rape,” said SP Gowda.

He also confirmed that 10 individuals were initially under suspicion, but no conclusive evidence has emerged against them so far.

Injury Marks Present, But No Evidence of Burns or Bites

The FSL report has also debunked viral rumors that the girl was tortured with cigarette burns and bite marks before her death.

“There are no signs of burn or bite injuries on the girl’s body. Such claims are baseless and misleading. If needed, we will take action against those spreading misinformation online,” SP Gowda warned.

The preliminary assessment suggests that the girl may have been hit by a train, as the injuries match blunt-force trauma associated with railway accidents. However, police said the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the postmortem report is released by Rajarajeshwari Hospital.

Timeline of the Incident

  • The minor girl, who studied in a residential school in Tavarekere, was home for the summer holidays.

  • She went missing on May 11 at around 5 PM.

  • Her body was found two days later, on May 13, near the Bangalore-Mysore railway track by passers-by, who immediately alerted the police.

  • Viral social media posts led to sensational claims of rape and murder, prompting swift intervention from local authorities and human rights activists.

Family Refused Cremation, Body Decomposed

Shocked and distraught, the girl’s family refused to cremate the body, demanding justice and a clear investigation. The body was kept outside the house for more than two days, leading to decomposition before it was finally cremated on Wednesday afternoon.

“The family strongly believed it was a case of rape and murder, and hence, they did not agree to cremate the body immediately,” sources close to the investigation said.

Government Responds, Compensation Given

Following public pressure and emotional appeals from the family, the Chairperson of Karnataka SC/ST Nomadic & Semi-Nomadic Development Corporation, G Pallavi, visited the family and convinced them to conduct the funeral.

The family has been given ₹4.25 lakh as compensation, and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar personally visited the bereaved household to offer condolences.

Legal Proceedings and Case Status

Based on the mother’s complaint, police registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigations are ongoing, and authorities await the final postmortem report to draw concrete conclusions.

“We are not ruling out anything yet. The investigation will continue based on scientific and medical evidence,” SP Gowda affirmed.

Public Reaction & Sensationalism

The case has become a flashpoint for social media outrage, with misleading claims and unverified videos spreading rapidly before any official confirmation.

“People must stop playing judge on social media. Let law and science do their job,” said a senior official involved in the case.
