Defence Minister says Indian Army struck deep inside Pakistan, including near Rawalpindi, in response to Pahalgam terror attack
New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday lauded the Indian Army’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, stating that the retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack demonstrates India’s military strength and political will.
Speaking virtually from Lucknow at the inauguration of a BrahMos missile manufacturing unit, Singh said that Operation Sindoor is “not just a military action, but a reflection of New India's commitment to end terrorism at its root.”
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, targeted seven terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and PoK, with further retaliatory strikes reportedly reaching Rawalpindi, near the Pakistan Army headquarters.
Singh emphasized that while India has never targeted civilians, Pakistan continues to hit residential zones and places of worship.
“The world has witnessed how India, in response to Pahalgam, struck deep into Pakistani territory,” he said, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made India’s stance on cross-border terrorism absolutely clear.
