“Transformation cannot happen overnight... but it has begun,” says NC leader Farooq Abdullah, rallying support for his son Omar's government amid rising expectations in Kupwara

Srinagar: In a powerful address to the public in Kupwara, North Kashmir, National Conference (NC) President and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Thursday made an emphatic statement, urging the people of Jammu and Kashmir to understand the realistic limitations of a newly formed government.

He said that the Omar Abdullah-led administration, which assumed power last year, is steadily laying the foundation for change in a region that has suffered decades of developmental neglect and socio-political turbulence.

“The government's tenure is five years. Our newly formed government cannot be expected to bring about transformation in the region overnight,”

“Omar Has Laid the Groundwork for a New Kashmir”

Farooq Abdullah acknowledged the widespread public expectations but added that the NC government is committed to every word of its manifesto, and citizens will soon start witnessing tangible change on all fronts – from infrastructure to education, healthcare, and peace-building.

“The people of Jammu and Kashmir have endured enough. Now begins the era of real governance, and we are walking the talk. But it takes time to rebuild a wounded land,”

‘Absolute Majority Doesn’t Mean Absolute Power’

The former CM emphasized that the NC government, despite enjoying an absolute majority, is not resorting to unilateral decision-making, showcasing its democratic spirit and willingness to involve public voices in the process of governance.

He described the NC's governance model as one of “sustained efforts, structured planning and active public participation.”

“Through active public involvement and transparent administration, we’ve set a clear roadmap. Kupwara, and all of Kashmir, will rise together,”
