Ashiq Kumar lured Rima to Karnataka with a promise of marriage, only to murder her and stuff her body in a suitcase; Bengaluru Police track down and arrest seven accused from Bihar in sensational interstate crime probe

Bengaluru: In a ghastly revelation that has sent shockwaves across Bengaluru, the Surya Nagar police have cracked the chilling suitcase murder mystery of a 17-year-old girl named Rima, whose body was discovered under suspicious circumstances in a cab near Old Chandapur on May 21.

A total of seven accused, all natives of Nawada district in Bihar, have been arrested in connection with the gruesome crime, including the prime accused Ashiq Kumar, and his accomplices Mukesh and Raja Rammohan.

“This was not just a murder—it was a betrayal of trust, love, and humanity. The victim was brought across state borders under the false promise of marriage, only to be silenced forever.”
said a senior investigating officer.

THE TRAGIC LOVE STORY TURNED NIGHTMARE

According to police investigations, Ashiq Kumar and Rima were romantically involved. Despite already being married and fathering two children, Ashiq cunningly manipulated Rima with false promises. On May 17, he brought her from Bihar to Kachanayakanahalli in Chandapur, near Bengaluru, under the pretence of marrying her. Instead, he brutally murdered her, stuffed her body into a suitcase, and dumped it in a cab near a railway bridge.

The disturbing discovery was made days later, prompting an intense investigation by Surya Nagar police. A six-member team led by Inspector Sanjeev Kumar, and including ASI Lokesh, Lakshmipathy, Shivaprakash, Haji, and Ranga Basavaraj, was dispatched to Bihar for a high-stakes manhunt.

“Our officers worked relentlessly, traversing across state lines to unearth the truth and apprehend the culprits. This case is now fully cracked,”
stated Surya Nagar Inspector Sanjeev Kumar.

CRIME OF PASSION, CONSPIRACY & DECEIT

Sources close to the investigation confirmed that Ashiq had plotted the murder in advance, taking advantage of Rima’s trust. The recovery of the suitcase and subsequent forensic reports validated the police’s suspicions, leading to a swift and coordinated crackdown across Bihar.

The accused were flown back to Karnataka, where they are being interrogated in custody. Officials have hinted at possible additional charges, including criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence.

“This is a textbook example of how love can be manipulated into a weapon when mixed with lies and cruelty.”
remarked a senior crime analyst.

The surreal nature of the crime, involving cross-state deceit, a minor victim, and a body hidden in a suitcase, has sparked outrage and concern among citizens and activists alike.
