Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy spearheads Karnataka’s ambitious pact with JICA to build a futuristic Transport Tech Stack, ushering in transparency, innovation, and smarter mobility for millions

Bengaluru: In a powerful demonstration of digital vision and administrative foresight, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy of Karnataka has taken center stage in launching one of the most transformative tech collaborations in the country’s transport history.

Leading a high-profile meeting with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Reddy welcomed a delegation headed by Yushi Nagano, Chief of JICA DXLab, to initiate a strategic partnership aimed at building a next-gen Transport Tech Stack for Karnataka.

“Karnataka is making a bold digital leap. With JICA’s global expertise and DXLab innovation, we are reimagining how public transport operates, integrates, and serves every citizen.”
declared Ramalinga Reddy, soon after the meeting.

The upcoming Transport Stack, co-developed by the Karnataka government and JICA, is expected to streamline operations, minimize leakages, empower startups, and open data to the public, ensuring a truly transparent and citizen-centric ecosystem.

Joining the minister at the discussion were top officials, including N.V. Prasad, IAS, Secretary, Transport Department; Ramachandran M., IAS, Managing Director of BMTC, along with several departmental dignitaries.

“Our vision is to build a tech-driven transport system that thrives on open APIs, real-time data, and smart integration.”
said Reddy.
“This stack will not just enhance governance, it will transform mobility for generations.”

The JICA DXLab, known for advancing digital transformation globally, has identified Karnataka as a key partner in its India-focused initiatives. Together, the two sides aim to unlock urban innovation by crafting a model of Mobility-as-a-Platform (MaaP) that can be replicated across other Indian states.

“We are building a system where data empowers—not just the government, but the people, the innovators, and the entrepreneurs,”
added a JICA official.
“This is governance 2.0, and Karnataka is showing the way.”
