Maheshwar Rao Conducts 2-Km Inspection, Orders Drone Survey, ₹1 Lakh Fine, and Urgent Land Acquisition Compliance

Bengaluru: In a decisive move to fast-track infrastructure development in one of Bengaluru’s busiest corridors, Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has issued strict orders to resolve pending land acquisition issues along the Sarjapur Main Road service lane, where road widening work has already been completed.

During a high-profile inspection near Iblur Junction in the Mahadevapura Zone, Maheshwar Rao personally assessed the stretch, interacting with officials on land acquisition delays, pedestrian walkway gaps, and public complaints.

“Landowners must be persuaded to cooperate with the Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) process. No development can wait endlessly. Expedite the documentation and handover.”
The Chief Commissioner instructed, referring to several plots holding up service road development.

Road Ready, But Service Lane Stuck

The 4.7-km road from Iblur Junction to Carmelaram RJ Tech Park was widened and asphalted to a 45-meter width in 2022, but the service road remains incomplete due to lagging land transfers.

Officials cited TDR-related delays and reluctance from some property owners, despite many already giving verbal consent.

“Collect the relinquishment deeds from willing landowners and officially transfer the land to BBMP. Start work immediately,”
Rao ordered.

He also demanded that pedestrian walkways be planned and constructed along the full stretch without delay.

Upgrade Key Junctions

Maheshwar Rao pushed for comprehensive upgrades at Iblur, Haralur Road, and Kasavanahalli Junctions, ordering:

  • Proper pedestrian crossings

  • Wider footpaths

  • Detailed junction development plans

Drone Eye on Encroachments

In a bid to crack down on illegal encroachments and unscientific drain management, the Chief Commissioner ordered a drone survey of stormwater drains in Mahadevapura Zone. He instructed officials to:

  • Desilt all drains before monsoon

  • Inspect encroachments via drone surveillance

  • Submit a report on drain condition and flow bottlenecks

Sewage Discharge: ₹1 Lakh Fine Slapped

Spotting blatant environmental violations, Maheshwar Rao imposed a ₹1 lakh penalty on Srinivasa Classic Apartments for illegally releasing sewage into a nearby stormwater drain.

“Immediate action must be taken to stop this discharge. Desilt the drain and ensure no contamination before rains.”
He ordered on the spot.

Surveillance at Waste Dumping Point

At a waste transfer point near Cloud Nine Hospital, residents complained about night-time illegal garbage dumping. The Chief Commissioner responded firmly:

  • Construct a covered shed

  • Install CCTV cameras

  • Monitor waste movement closely

2-Km Walking Inspection: From Iblur to Kasavanahalli

Walking alongside engineers and officials, Rao personally inspected a 2-kilometer stretch, focusing on:

  • Pedestrian safety

  • Side drain repairs

  • Anti-dumping measures

  • Sidewalk construction

  • Pedestrian overpass proposals

“This corridor must set a benchmark in urban infrastructure. Public convenience cannot be compromised.”
Rao declared.
