Prime Minister expresses deep grief over loss of lives during RCB victory celebrations in Bengaluru
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic stampede near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru that claimed at least 11 lives during celebrations of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s historic IPL 2025 victory.
In a heartfelt message on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister said,
“The accident in Bengaluru is truly heartbreaking. In this hour of tragedy, my condolences are with all those who lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
The stampede occurred late Tuesday night as thousands of fans gathered near the stadium to catch a glimpse of the RCB players and celebrate the team’s maiden IPL trophy after an 18-year wait. The situation spiraled out of control as multiple entry gates were opened, triggering a sudden surge that led to a deadly crush.
According to official sources, 11 people, including children and women, have died, and over 20 others are undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
The Prime Minister’s message of condolence comes as rescue and relief efforts continue, and the Karnataka government faces mounting pressure to explain security and crowd management failures.
