Principal Dr. Dakshayani G. Emphasises Ahimsa and Satvik Living as Keys to Sustainability; Over 100 Students Participate in Themed Event 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health'

Tumakuru: “Yoga teaches us balance — not just within ourselves, but with the world around us,” said Dr. Dakshayani G, Principal of University College of Arts, Tumkur University, as she delivered a compelling keynote address on the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day.

The event, hosted by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, was held under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, and saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 undergraduate students.

“When we practice Ahimsa (non-violence) and Satvik living (a pure lifestyle), we naturally move towards sustainability — consuming less, wasting less, and respecting all forms of life,” said Dr. Dakshayani, underlining yoga's alignment with ecological responsibility and inner peace.

Yoga’s Power in Daily Student Life

Dr. Dakshayani stressed that yoga is more than a physical routine — it's a holistic system that strengthens immunity, balances hormones, reduces anxiety, and enhances concentration.

“Yoga, through its asanas, pranayama, and meditation, connects us to the rhythm of life,” she added.
“Students, especially in their formative years, must adopt yoga as a daily discipline. It plays a key role in developing a good personality and emotional stability.”
