Nepali family devastated as young Anant succumbs to electrical burns at Victoria Hospital; police register case, investigation underway

Bengaluru: In a heart-wrenching incident that has shocked the city, a 10-year-old boy named Anant succumbed to severe electric shock injuries at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru around 12:30 PM today.

Anant, a resident of the city along with his family who had migrated from Nepal, came into accidental contact with a high-tension electric wire at his home on June 15. The tragedy occurred while the boy was throwing a broom, which inadvertently touched a live wire, resulting in a powerful electric shock that left him critically injured.

“He was immediately rushed to the burns department of Victoria Hospital,” said a hospital source, adding that doctors tried their best but could not save the child.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community. Anant's family, already reeling from the sudden accident, was seen weeping inconsolably outside the hospital, struggling to come to terms with the loss.

Police Action Initiated

The K.R. Puram Police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the cause of the accident. Whether the incident was the result of negligent wiring, faulty infrastructure, or accidental exposure is yet to be determined.
