Dheeraj Kansal left a poignant Facebook note before taking the extreme step; trauma from family past suspected

New Delhi: In a shocking and rare incident, a 25-year-old chartered accountant died by inhaling helium gas in a guesthouse near Bengali Market, marking the first such suicide case in Delhi, according to Barakhamba police.

The deceased has been identified as Dheeraj Kansal, a resident of Bazaar Lane near Mandi House, originally from Karnal, Haryana, and working at a private firm in Gurugram.

Facebook Post Reveals No Blame

Before ending his life, Dheeraj posted a suicide note on Facebook, where he expressed a calm acceptance of death and said no one was responsible for his decision.

“For me, death is the most beautiful part of life. Please do not grieve over my death. Committing suicide is not bad. Because I am not responsible for anyone.”
– Dheeraj Kansal, in his final Facebook post.

No family members or acquaintances have been blamed in the note.

Used Helium Cylinder Bought Online

Dheeraj allegedly purchased a helium cylinder online for ₹3,500, which he used to carry out the suicide. Police sources say that he had secured a mask to his mouth using plastic wrap and tape, and a tube from the helium cylinder was attached.

The gruesome scene was discovered on July 28, when a fellow guest at the guesthouse noticed a foul smell and informed the police. A team from Delhi Police, Fire Department, and FSL broke open the door and found Dheeraj’s lifeless body on the bed.

Family Background and Police Investigation

According to police, Dheeraj lost his father in 2003 and his mother had remarried later. He had no siblings, and investigators suspect prolonged emotional isolation might have contributed to his deteriorating mental health.

The police have seized all electronic devices of the deceased for forensic analysis and sent the body for postmortem. The case remains under investigation.
