Governor Gehlot Administers Oath at Raj Bhavan; Dignitaries Attend Swearing-in Ceremony in Bengaluru


Bengaluru: Justice Vibhu Bakhru was officially sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court on Saturday during a formal ceremony held at the Glass House of Raj Bhavan. The oath of office was administered by Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, marking a significant moment in the state’s judicial leadership.


From the Delhi High Court to the Karnataka Chief Justice
Justice Bakhru, 59, previously served as a judge at the Delhi High Court and was elevated to the position of Chief Justice following recommendations from the Supreme Court Collegium, which were later approved by the Central Government.

"The judiciary plays a foundational role in safeguarding democracy and constitutional values. I am honoured to take on this responsibility in Karnataka," Justice Bakhru reportedly said following the oath-taking.

Several judges of the Karnataka High Court, senior lawyers, and high-ranking government officials were also present at the occasion, underlining the judicial importance of the transition.
