BMTC introduces digital Vajra Weekly Pass for seamless travel on city buses, excluding Vayu Vajra and special services; toll and express fees apply

Bengaluru: In a major move to enhance passenger convenience, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has officially launched the Vajra Weekly Pass effective from August 1, 2025. The pass, priced at Rs. 750 (excluding toll charges), allows unlimited travel across multiple BMTC services for a week.

Unlimited travel on Vajra, Ordinary Express, and Ordinary BMTC buses

The Vajra Weekly Pass offers passengers the benefit of unrestricted travel on the following BMTC services:

  • Vajra (AC)

  • Ordinary Express

  • Ordinary Services

However, it is not valid on Vayu Vajra (airport service) and other special BMTC services.

“Passengers holding the Vajra Weekly Pass must pay Rs. 10 as Express Service Fee and applicable toll charges when using Vajra Express services,” a BMTC official clarified.

Toll fees not included

While the Rs. 750 pass covers unlimited travel, toll fees on applicable routes are not included in the fare. Passengers will be required to pay the toll separately, particularly when traveling through tolled corridors using Vajra Express or other applicable services.

Digital purchase via Tummoc App

In keeping with the city's push towards digital mobility, BMTC has enabled digital issuance of the Vajra Weekly Pass through the Tummoc mobile application. Passengers can purchase the pass directly via the app, eliminating the need to queue at bus stations or counters.

“The digital pass system ensures convenience, transparency, and accessibility for regular commuters,” said a BMTC spokesperson.

The move is expected to benefit daily commuters, office-goers, and students who regularly use BMTC services across the city. The new pass system aims to boost public transport usage and reduce dependency on private vehicles.
