Rising Road Fatalities Plague Belagavi District
Belagavi : The roads of Belagavi district have turned into a grim reminder of the perils of negligence and recklessness, as the region grapples with a spate of accidents claiming numerous lives over the past three days.
In a tragic incident near Badi village, Khanapur taluk, a horrific collision involving a car carrying ten individuals resulted in the loss of six lives, with four others sustaining critical injuries. The victims, hailing from Dharwad district, were en route to Golihalli when their journey took a fatal turn, culminating in the vehicle crashing into a tree at high speed.
Similarly, chaos ensued near Mugalakhod village, Rayabhaga taluk, when two motorcycles and a car collided with a tree, claiming the lives of four occupants of the car who were traveling from Gurlapur to Mugalakhod. Tragically, two individuals on separate motorcycles also perished in the accident, which unfolded in the jurisdiction of Harrogeri police station.
A devastating head-on collision between two cars near Kurabagatti, Yaragatti taluk, resulted in the loss of three lives, with two others sustaining injuries, marking yet another somber chapter in the recent surge of road mishaps within the district.
The toll of tragedy continued to mount as Gadagaya Hiremath and Balappa Hugara lost their lives in a collision between their motorcycle and a canter vehicle near Yamakanamaradi, Hukkeri taluk. Additionally, a woman met her untimely demise following an auto-rickshaw overturn in Nippani, while another biker fell victim to a collision with a bus.
The alarming frequency and severity of these accidents have left the authorities bewildered, with a total of 25 lives lost in a harrowing mix of bike accidents, car crashes, and collisions involving lorries and buses across the district.
