Aam Aadmi Party accuses the central government of authoritarianism and threatens nationwide agitation
Bengaluru: The BJP-led central government, in power for a decade, is seen as anti-constitutional and anti-democratic, willing to go to any length to stay in power. AAP State President Mukhyamantri Chandru accused the government of insulting democracy at a protest in Freedom Park today.
Chandru highlighted the looming Lok Sabha elections, warning of the BJP's divisive tactics and its purported aim to manipulate the electoral process in its favor. He cited instances of alleged interference in regional governance, including the contentious Chandigarh mayoral election, which drew condemnation from the Supreme Court as an assault on democracy.
The AAP leadership accused the BJP of misusing investigative agencies like the CBI and ED to intimidate political opponents, notably targeting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other party members. Despite facing legal challenges, AAP vowed to resist any attempts to suppress dissent and pledged to continue fighting for democratic values.
Mohan Dasari, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state secretary, issued a dire warning, asserting that the re-election of the BJP would imperil the country's constitution and democracy. He called upon voters to scrutinize the government's promises, questioning its track record on job creation and poverty eradication.
Prakash Nedungadi, AAP state Treasurer, Vice President Rudrayya Navalimath and others were present.
