Technical Staff Showcase Innovation in Creating Mobile Canteen

Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has repurposed a Leyland bus with a mileage of 10,64,298 kilometers into a mobile canteen/lunch hall at the North Zone Central Workshop-04.

Under the directive of BMTC Managing Director Ramachandran R., I.A.S., the scrap vehicle was transformed into a mobile canteen/lunch hall utilizing resources available at the workshop. The initiative was spearheaded by R. Ananda Kumar, Assistant Mechanical Engineer, Central Workshop-04, North Zone, and his team of technical employees.

The innovative mobile canteen features seating and table arrangements, fan systems, handwashing facilities, drinking water systems, and ventilation/lighting systems, including glass windows on the roof and sides of the bus. Additionally, a dinner cart with the inviting title "Come sit and have dinner" was created by the creative efforts of the technical staff.

BMTC Mobile Canteen 

Managing Director Ramachandran R., I.A.S., commended the functional skills of the technical staff and encouraged further innovation. The initiative received support from GT Prabhakar Reddy, Chief Traffic Manager, and Mr. AN. Gajendra Kumar, Chief Mechanical Engineer.

This transformative project not only showcases the creativity and resourcefulness of the BMTC technical staff but also provides a convenient dining option for employees at various depots and bus stops.
