This alteration, as highlighted by BJP state president BY Vijayendra, raises questions about preserving the essence of Kuvempu's legacy. The proposed change from "Idu Jnana Degula, Kai Mugidu Olage Ba"(this is a temple of knowledge, come in with folded hands)” to "Idu Jnana Degula, Dhairyavaagi Prashnisu"(this is a temple of knowledge, ask questions courageously)" undermines the original message and ethos of Kuvempu's words.
The BJP's stance on this matter is not just about political one-upmanship; it's about safeguarding the cultural and literary heritage of Karnataka. The attempt to alter Kuvempu's words cannot be overlooked, especially considering his significant contributions to Kannada literature and his status as a revered figure in the state. No one has the right to alter the literary work of someone, it is a responsibility to respect and preserve literary efforts.

The response from the Congress government has been lacking. The attempt to downplay the issue and the lack of a clear stance on preserving Kuvempu's original writing are concerning. Literature is being continued in Kannada, which unites Kannadigas in the state and gives us a sense of preserving Kannada.
