Davangere: The Chikarikatte lake located in Rameshwar village, Nyamati taluk, was officially handed over to the villagers on Wednesday under the Dharmasthala Gramabhivriddhi Yojana Nammur Nammu Kere Yojana.
Addressing the gathering, B Geetha, the Chitradurga Regional Director of Dharmasthala Village Development Project, highlighted the importance of preserving lakes for future generations. She marked the historical significance of lakes in villages and lamented their current state of deterioration.
Geetha inaugurated and unveiled the nameplate commemorating the development of the 663rd lake under the Dharmasthala Village Development Yojana Nammur Namma Kere Yojana at Chikarikatte lake in Rameshwar village of Savalanga zone on the same day.
Echoing Geetha's sentiments, the importance of conserving water for future generations was reiterated. The speaker emphasized that natural resources such as water, air, and light are invaluable gifts bestowed upon us by the divine.
