Complaint Lodged by Mother of 17-Year-Old Girl Triggers Investigation; Home Minister Emphasizes Police Probe

Bengaluru:- An FIR has been filed against former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa on allegations of sexually assaulting a minor girl. He faces charges under The Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO)Act and section 354(A) of the IPC.

The FIR, lodged by Sadashivanagar police in Bengaluru, stems from a complaint by the mother of a 17-year-old girl.

Reportedly, the incident occurred on February 2 when the mother and daughter visited Yediyurappa seeking assistance in a cheating case.

Meanwhile, it's noted that the complainant has filed a considerable number of cases, unrelated to the former Chief Minister, to date. Yediyurappa's office released a list of these cases, suggesting a pattern of frequent filings.

The complainant has a history of filing complaints against various individuals, with records dating back to 2015, including a previous sexual assault complaint at Bengaluru's Electronic City police station.

Karnataka's Home Minister, G Parmeshwar, has stated that the police are actively investigating the matter, highlighting that the truth will emerge once the probe concludes. Refraining from commenting on claims regarding the complainant's mental health, Parmeshwar dismissed allegations of political conspiracy, citing the consistent history of case filings.

When questioned about potential detention or arrest of Yediyurappa, Parmeshwar opted not to provide a direct response, stating adherence to police protocols.
