NCPCR Chairperson Leads Raids on Unregistered Madrassas, Unearths Alleged Human Trafficking Operation, Rescues 20 Girls
Bengaluru: National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairperson Priyank Kangoon conducted raids on several madrassas in the city over allegations of human trafficking. The operation resulted in the rescue of 20 girls.
Serious allegations suggest that the rescued individuals were being trafficked to Gulf countries, a concern that has been reported in South India. Following NCPCR's complaint, Sampigehalli Police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
During the raid, approximately 10-20 children were found in the madrassas. Although parents claimed to have voluntarily admitted their children to the girls' madrasas, it was discovered that these institutions were not legally registered. Furthermore, reports indicate that the children were not receiving adequate education, with religious teachings being prioritized over formal schooling.
Priyank Kangoon, in the complaint, highlighted the absence of proper licensing for the operation of these madrassas. The investigation into the matter continues as authorities address the concerning issues raised during the raids.
