Mohan Dasari Demands Free Treatment in Private Hospitals and Rs 25 Lakh Compensation for Dengue Victims
Bengaluru: Mohan
Dasari, State Organizing Secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has strongly
urged the government to address the escalating dengue epidemic in Bengaluru.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the BBMP's efforts to control the disease,
Dasari demanded immediate action and assistance for affected citizens.
Speaking at
a protest held at the BBMP head office premises on Friday, Dasari criticized
the reported discrepancy in dengue case numbers, alleging that official figures
vastly underestimate the actual count. He claimed that while BBMP acknowledges
2-3 thousand cases, their sources indicate figures as high as 40,000 to 50,000
cases.
Dasari
highlighted the plight of citizens seeking treatment, stating that people are
facing long waits at hospitals while private institutions charge exorbitant
fees. Drawing a parallel to COVID-19 treatment initiatives, he called on the
government to ensure free treatment for dengue patients in private hospitals to
prevent fatalities.
The demand
extended to compensation for families of dengue victims, urging the government
to provide Rs 20-25 lakhs in compensation for those who succumb to the disease due
to BBMP's alleged failures.
Ashok
Mrityunjaya, Bengaluru City Organizing Secretary of AAP, echoed these concerns,
highlighting the severity of the dengue outbreak and the need for both public
awareness and government intervention. State Secretary Usha Mohan and other AAP
leaders were also present, underscoring the urgency of the situation and
advocating for immediate measures to curb the spread of dengue in Bengaluru.
