Incident reported under Mufasil police station limits; arrests include one minor, all five to be produced in court
Dumka: Five individuals, including a minor, have been arrested in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a 16-year-old girl in Jharkhand's Dumka district, police confirmed on Tuesday.
The incident reportedly took place on May 16, under the jurisdiction of the Mufasil police station, when the victim had visited a relative’s residence to attend a wedding function. As per the complaint filed by the girl on May 17, she was forcibly taken to a secluded spot by an armed man, where he and four others allegedly raped her.
“Based on the FIR, a team was formed and five accused were arrested on Monday. They will be produced before the court on Tuesday. A medical examination of the girl has also been conducted,”
said Satyam Kumar, in-charge of Mufasil police station.
The police launched a swift investigation after the complaint was filed. All five accused were apprehended by Monday evening. Legal procedures, including medical examination of the survivor and further investigation, are currently underway.
Officials have confirmed that the arrested individuals will be produced before a local court today. The case is being monitored closely by senior police officials.
