Bengaluru: The
Bangalore City Police Commissionerate is gearing up for the crucial counting of
votes for the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, scheduled for Tuesday. With
preparations underway, a comprehensive plan has been put in place to ensure a
smooth and secure process.
To
facilitate the counting process, police officers and staff have been assigned
duties. The polling stations include Mount Carmel College in Vasantnagar for
Bangalore Central Constituency, St. Joseph's Indian High School in Vithal
Mallya Road for Bangalore North Constituency, and SSMRV College in 4th T Block,
Jayanagar for Bangalore South Constituency.
A total of
1524 officers and personnel, along with 13 armed squads and 04 Quick Response
Team (QRT) units, have been deployed by the Bangalore City Police Unit.
Additionally, 516 police officers and personnel, including civil and Central
Armed Police Forces (CAPF), are actively engaged in strong room security duty
across three shifts.
Over 400
officers and personnel from the traffic department have been mobilized to
ensure smooth vehicular movement around the polling stations.
More than
2400 police officers and personnel from various units have been entrusted with
vote counting duties, emphasizing the gravity of the task at hand.
Strict
measures ensure law and order during counting. Section 144 orders from Tuesday
06:00 AM to midnight ban group gatherings, with severe penalties for offenders.
Security
measures extend citywide, with KSRP officers and CAR detachments reinforcing
sensitive areas. Liquor sales are banned from Monday to Tuesday midnight, underscoring
the commitment to maintaining order during this crucial democratic phase.
