Minister Ramalingareddy Takes Action on Airport Pickup Fees: Karnataka Drivers Union's Concerns Addressed

Bengaluru: Ramalingareddy, Minister of Transport of Karnataka, addressing the grievances raised by the Karnataka Drivers Union, has taken decisive action to address the issue of exorbitant pickup fees imposed by the Bangalore International Airport Authority.

In a petition dated 28 May, the Karnataka Drivers Union highlighted the burdensome policy implemented by the airport authority, limiting drivers to a mere seven minutes for passenger pickups, with penalties of Rs 150 for each additional minute. The Union emphasized the crucial role of drivers in shaping the airport's reputation and expressed their frustration over the unjust fees levied on them.

Recognizing the significance of drivers in ensuring smooth passenger transitions at the airport, Ramalingareddy swiftly responded to the Union's concerns. In a statement released today, he announced that necessary measures have been taken to address the newly established norms set by the Bangalore International Airport Authority.

The Minister highlighted the importance of fostering a conducive environment for drivers, who often face delays due to passengers' arrival with luggage. He reiterated the government's commitment to safeguarding.
