Minister Siddaramaiah highlighted the historical significance of Nadaprabhu
Kempegowda, attributing Bengaluru's global renown to the city's founder.
Speaking after garlanding Kempegowda's statue at Vidhana Soudha on his 515th
birth anniversary on Thursday, the Chief Minister highlighted Kempegowda's role
in shaping the city.
The state
government is observing the 515th birth anniversary of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda
across Karnataka. Kempegowda, a noted administrator during the reign of
Krishnadevaraya, established Bangalore and oversaw the construction of numerous
lakes, temples, and marketplaces such as Chikkapet, Doddapete, Nagarpete,
Tigalarapete, and Balepete.
Highlighting
Kempegowda's enduring legacy, Siddaramaiah recalled the establishment of the
Kempegowda Jayanti celebration and the formation of the Kempegowda Authority
during his tenure as Chief Minister. He described Kempegowda's administration
as a source of inspiration for governance.
